Many of you may know that I suffered through a grim battle of Stage 4 Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma back in 2009 and have beaten the odds that I was labeled with 10 years ago! After going through 6 months of intense treatment which included chemo, radiation and a 14hr surgery to remove some of my jaw and tongue, I'm finally living life as normal as my normal can get. In 2011, my husband and I organized San Antonio's 1st Oral Cancer Walk and have continued those efforts since then.
The Oral Cancer Foundation (OCF) was a valuable resource to me while going through treatment and I have met so many people on the forum that helped me feel like I wasn't alone in the process. In the past, we have created one of OCF’s biggest and most successful awareness events in the country and although we can't be together as one, we can continue to support and show OCF what San Antonians can achieve!
You can join me by registering to be a virtual walker or runner on our team (OCF - San Antonio). Or if you can’t participate by walking or running but feel inclined to help out, you can make a donation to our team instead. No contribution is too small and it's tax-deductible. Your donation will be given to the Oral Cancer Foundation so they can continue the work to make changes to our disease. Thank you!
